Electropolis
is the name
given to the downtown core of Electra City. It is the oldest part of the
town. An experimental community built at the beginning of the electric
age, it features skyscraper-sized Van Der Graaf generator towers and
Windhurst machines as well as a distinctive modernist architectural
style. The original Central Precinct is located here as is the Emerson
Light & Power main terminal. From the air the place resembles the
interior of an old television set or computer. Machines as buildings.
Electricity as commerce. Electropolis was at one time Electra City's
center of power, both physically and politically. Now that most of the
commercial and residential enterprises have left the core, it is
dominated by industrial and utilitarian concerns. It is a kind of high
tech ghetto.
